Somers Town Chair

Christine Pozmanter Robbins

Dear Neighbor,

Along with our many civic achievements, the Somers Democratic Club has helped make history. We have been instrumental in electing a Democratic majority to the Somers Town Board and we will continue to work to prove that two-party government in Somers is permanent.

This year we are celebrating 20 years as one of the largest civic groups in Somers with over 400 members. Our Somers Democratic Club News Flash regularly provides information about National, State, County and local issues to registered democrats in Somers. We give four annual Civics Awards to outstanding local students. The Club has donated funds to support special  projects for the children in our district, including the creation of the schoolyard habitat at SIS and equipment for the Media Dept. at SHS. We have supported the Somers Public Library, the Somers Volunteer Fire Dept. the Somers Education Foundation and Destination Imagination teams. We donated a bench in the Somers Unity Garden to help us all memorialize the victims of Sept. 11th. One of our most popular events is our annual  Democrat of the Year award dinner every June.

The Somers Democratic Club holds periodic non-partisan public issues forums. Some of our past topics were on affordable housing, contract garbage collection, congregate care, youth services, and water resources featuring guest speaker Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and co-sponsored a muti-town forum featuring Congressman John Hall.  In cooperation with the Somers Education Foundation and The Northern Westchester Shelter, we sponsored a STAR forum on teen dating abuse at Somers High School.

We are an activist organization concerned with the betterment of Somers for all of its citizens. Our efforts need your support. To become involved or lend financial support, or both, please fill out the membership application available on this website. We need your help! Together we will make a difference.

Sincerely,
Andy Pecunia, President
